After Dark

Fort Tilden is an abandoned military base located in the Rockaway Peninsula of Queens. It was decommissioned in the early 1970’s and turned over to the National Park Service, but most of the wartime structures -from brick buildings to concrete missile launch pads- remain all over the area, now invaded by thick vegetation.

Fort Tilden is a space of transition from violent human occupation to Nature reclaiming its own, emerging from the concrete cracks, slowly swallowing the ruins of darker times.
