Empty Structures of the East Harlem
On the ground-floor of 1773 Lexington Ave, located in Manhattan’s East Harlem, there is a bustling grocery store. But the windows of the residential units above have been carefully sealed-up. This is no exception in the neighborhood: landlords are often content to earn income from first-floor businesses rather than deal with the trouble of tenants.
And, for decades on, these residential apartments remain empty and devoid of life.
